Today, June 6th, 2023 representative superintendents from System Design Zone (SDZ) districts, in partnership with DESE leadership, are presenting information about the Demonstration Project with School Innovation Waiver request to the Missouri State Board of Education. Action on approving the waiver is anticipated to occur at the August, 2023 State Board of Education meeting. This is the first School Innovation Waiver request to come before the board. If the waiver is approved, the 20 SDZ Districts will have the opportunity to pilot innovative assessment approaches and accountability metrics that promote personalized competency-based learning.
