Oct 11, 2023

Session 2

Concepts for this All Zones Session

Using the Missouri Framework and a CBL/RWL mind-set, participants will:

  1. Understand the latest updates from the Demonstration Project Waiver

  2. Apply the foundational tenets of personalized competency based learning to the eight elements of the Missouri Definition

2.1: Demonstration Project Update

The SRSN held its last monthly learning session via Zoom on October 11. The SRSN welcomed the Cabool, Caruthersville, Columbia, Gasconade R-II, and Willow Springs School Districts to the ILDZ and Step-Up Counseling to the CNZ.

Districts received an introductory overview of the concept Growth-to-Readiness/Mastery. This overview laid the foundation for the work of System Design Zone 1 districts as they implement the Demonstration Project; informed the work of System Design Zone 2 districts as they complete their Demonstration Project Waiver request; and informed the ILZD and CNZ members of the progress being made.

2.2: Bringing Learner-Centered Systems to Life

The monthly learning topic was “Bringing Learner-Centered Systems to Life.” Dr. Theresa Ewald, I4PL Facilitator, presented multiple examples of each of the CBL elements in practice from a variety of national districts. Participants engaged in collegial dialogue about the examples and made connections to the work in their own districts. CNZ members added their expertise to the dialogue by identifying where they are supporting the work through different efforts.
